Meet Emily

Hello!

My name is Emily and I am excited that you are visiting my blog. This site started as an outlet for my thoughts and creative endeavors, and at this point I’m not all that sure where it will take me! I am described by many to be a “jack of all trades” so you can expect a large variety of posts ranging from DIY crafts to tips about college. Here are a few things to help you get to know me better!

1. I am married an amazing man that I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with! We met in high school when we both attended the same camp and (almost) every day has been an absolute joy (we're human too!). I don't know anybody else so generous, caring, kind, loyal and funny. He is a godly man with a strong faith and always is pushing me to dig deeper in my own faith. I love being married to him! (See my wedding post here!)

2. I love to craft! Whether its sewing, crocheting, DIY projects, or coloring; I love being creative. At a very young age my mom (master of almost all things craft-y) started to teach me all she knew. From there, my sister and I got to explore and expand on our skills and eventually we started selling some of our creations on etsy and you can find them hereAs I create and conquer more fun crafts, I hope to be able to share them with you and hopefully inspire you to do the same!

3. Its probably pretty normal, but I drink a lot of coffee! I hold pretty strange hours as a college student, so the extra caffeine is usually very much appreciated. I’m working on enjoying coffee straight black, but the fun drinks are just so tasty! I try to grind my beans and brew my coffee at home, but with three coffee shops on campus its hard not to grab a tasty drink as a treat as I am studying.

4. I am a psychology student at a decently sized Midwestern school. Because of this, you can expect multiple posts on my field of study and the subzero temperatures that we experience for about half of the year. I absolutely love psychology because I love people! I love learning about the reasons behind certain behaviors and mental processes that people have. I also really love snow. The cold I could do without. But honestly, there really is nothing more beautiful than the sparkling frost that delicately rest on the tops of the trees on a mid-December day.

5. I have a passion for music. I love listening to it, playing it, and creating it. I started piano lessons around the time that I started elementary school and then traded the black and white keys for a violin in fourth grade. I played the violin up until I graduated and, for the last few years, was able to play first chair in my high school’s orchestra and chamber orchestra. Along the way I picked up the viola, ukulele, and guitar. I also sang in my high school’s top audition-only choir and chamber choir and after I graduated, continued singing in my college’s Women’s Chorus. There are few things that make me feel as alive as I do when I am immersed in music.

6. Last, but not least, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. My faith is an extremely important part of my life. I grew up in a Christian family and was raised by two incredible parents with incredible faiths. When I was in middle school, God called my dad to go into ministry and he is now the Assistant Pastor at my home church. I am so excited to see him living out his calling everyday. My faith didn't truly become my own until two summers of working at a Christian camp. I was able to share the good news about Jesus with so many people and the joy, peace, and grace of Christ really began to make sense as I saw it working in my own life. I now am leading a bible study with freshman girls at my college and I am so excited to see how God works in the lives of students on our campus.
